Stroke’s Law Apparatus for Determining Viscosity

The setup consists of a transparent cylinder about 100mm in diameter and 1 meters height. A hopper with a valve is provided at the bottom of the cylinder to collect the steel ball. A vertical brass tube can be inserted through the cork at the mouth of the cylinder for releasing the steel balls.

A few smooth steel balls are used for the measurement of the final velocity.

To verify strokes law and to study the variation of the drag coefficient Cd with Reynolds’s number for a sphere.
