Rain Gauge Recording

Rain-Gauge-Recording
Automatic Raingauge Recorder are manufactured to exacting standards of IS : 5235 – 1969. The instrument designed to give a continuous record of the rainfall in addition, from the record the total amount, the times of onset and cessation, the duration and the rate can be determined.

Accuracy in the measurement of rainfall is of great importance in almost all fields of national economy and is of special significance in agriculture, irrigation, design of water ways, flood control, power generation, ground water studies and in the conservation of water resources on both national and international levels.

The instrument consists of a collector and Rainfall Recording mechanism. The recording mechanism consists of a float chamber containing a light copper float and a siphon chamber. Rain from the collector flows into the float chamber and as the draws a line on a chart fixed on a rotating stainless steel/other non-corrosive plastic material drum driven by Electronic clockwork. The natural siphon principle is used for automatic discharging of the float chamber when the rainfall equals the maximum of the range for which the instrument is designed. When siphoning occurs the pen fixed on the float rod falls to the zero mark on the chart and the instrument is ready to record rainfall again

The outer shell of the instrument is made of fibre reinforced polyester for low thermal conductivity, rigidity and strength as recommended by ISI. The recording mechanism and collector ring are made of brass/gunmetal and the recording drum is made of Stainless steel/other non-corrosive plastic material.
