The Test Rig provided study of Multi-cylinder four stroke diesel engine testing. A rig comprises of a Multi-cylinder Four Stroke Diesel Engine coupled to a Rope Brake Dynamometer. With the help of various measurement the test rig can determine - BHP, IHP, mechanical and thermal efficiencies, air fuel ratio, specific fuel consumption and heat balance sheets at various loads. Special arrangements is provided by disconnecting injector for cutting off ignition of each cylinder for Morse Test.
Specifications

Engine : Four Stroke Multi-Cylinder (Kirlosker) Diesel Engine.
Dynamometer :
(i) Rope Brake Dynamometer : Rope wound around water cooled brake drum and spring balance.
Accessories : An ignition switch, a radiator, a self starter, a battery ammeter, a throttle control with an indicator for throttle opening. Special arrangements is provided by disconnecting injector for cutting off ignition of each cylinder for Morse test, all mounted on a suitable panel board, a battery for starting the engine, clutch arrangement.
Fuel arrangement : Fuel tank mounted on a sturdy iron stand burette tube, 3-way clock connecting tube, a stop watch.
Cooling water arrangement : Cooling water arrangement by cooling piping. A measuring jar to determine the discharge of cooling water.
Air intake measurement : Air intake reservoir with orifice plate and differential manometer.
Multi-channel Digital Temperature Indicator : to measure the temperature at various points.
Exhaust Gas Calorimeter : The whole unit is mounted on a sturdy frame.
A sensor with digital panel : to indicate the RPM.
