(1) Recording water levels in model studies in Agriculture and Irrigation Research Stations.
(2) Ground water work for studying water levels in wells during pumping and under normal conditions.
(3) Recording water levels in streams, rivers, lakes, canals and dams. The recorder is rugged, suitable for transport under field conditions and completely protected against atmospheric changes.
The horizontal chart drum of the recorder is rotated by float action proportional to changes in water level. The float and counterweight are suspended on a perforated tape. Over the full temperature range, the temperature effects on length are insignificant. The perforated tape is used with matching sprockets of the pulley wheel to prevent slipping of the suspension. The float of 12.5 cm. diameter & 12.5 cm. height made from brass. when suspended in water it appear 50% above water level.
The capillary pen stylus is moved to the right across the width of the chart at a constant speed controlled by the mechanical clock. The clock moves the stylus pen trolley through reduction gears. The combined movement of the chart drum & stylus produces a graphic record of water level against time. The clock moves the stylus from left to right at 1 cm/hour or 1 cm/8 hours for daily & weekly as per the gear ratio setbyuserat1:1, 1:2, 1:5& 1:10ratio(i.e.1 rotationofthedrumin30cm,60cm, 150 cm, 300 cm). The Specially printed charts are supplied with this Recorder. Chart paper, Pens (Stylus) & Ink are the consumable items.
