This apparatus is used to determine the coefficient of discharge (Cd), Coefficient of velocity (Cv) and Coefficient of contraction (Cc) of different types of orifice

The apparatus consists of:

 Orifice of dia 10mm.
 Mouth piece of dia 10mm and 30mm long.
 Convergent orifice from dia 10mm to 15mm and 20mm long. The apparatus consists of :
 A Centrifugal pump of 25mm x 25mm with 1/2 HP Motor
 M.S. SUMP TANK 80 X 33 X 30cm to collect the water.
 M.S. MEASURING TANK 45 X 30 X 30cm fitted with Piezometer tube to measure the discharge. Damper is used to collect the water in M.S. MEASURING TANK for certain time.
 G.I. pipe of internal dia 25.4mm (1") and Gunmetal ISI mark Control Valve and regulating valves are used to circulate water.
 Bye-pass line is also used to regulate the discharge.

This apparatus consists a inlet tank 40x40x50mm fitted with the Piezometer tube to measure the head of water in tank. Orifice or mouthpiece is fitted on the tank with nuts. A hook gauge and scale is used to measure the horizontal and vertical distances along the jet of water.

The tanks are well epoxy painted inside to prevent rust hence increase the life of tank.

Experimental capabilities:

 Determination of coefficient of discharge, velocity and contraction of various types of orifices and multipieces.
